Keynote Lecture at the 7th International Symposium on Advances in Pharmaceutical Analysis (APA 2025), Ankara

From August 24 to 27, 2025, the 7th International Symposium on Advances in Pharmaceutical Analysis (APA 2025) took place in Ankara, Turkey, gathering leading experts, researchers, and professionals in the field of pharmaceutical and biomedical analysis.

On August 26, the event featured a keynote lecture by Prof. Fabiana Arduini, coordinator of the PHOENIX project and Professor at the University of Rome Tor Vergata (UNITOV).

Her talk, entitled “Paper-based electrochemical biosensors for smart and sustainable analyses” presented the latest achievements of her research group in developing paper-based electrochemical (bio)sensors as innovative, affordable, and eco-friendly analytical platforms.

The lecture emphasized the unique advantages of these systems: sustainability, low cost, portability, and ease of fabrication, and their strong potential in pharmaceutical and biomedical applications. By enabling point-of-care diagnostics and supporting decentralized healthcare, these paper-based devices pave the way for more accessible and patient-centered analytical solutions.

Prof. Arduini’s contribution underscored the growing importance of green analytical chemistry and smart sensing technologies in shaping the future of healthcare and pharmaceutical innovation.
